In the main gas region of the country, where 509.3 billion cubic meters were recovered last year. m of natural gas, as well as 19.2 million tons of condensate, oil is also extracted - 26.8 million tons in 2016. Oil production at 62 fields in the Yamal-Nenets district is carried out by 19 companies, including subsidiaries of Gazprom Neft, NOVATEK and Rosneft. The undisputed leader is Gazprom Neft, which accounted for 55.8% (15 million tons) of oil recovered last year. This is a significant indicator for the leading Russian vertically integrated oil companies: the company produced 85.8 million tons of oil last year in Russia. Therefore, Gazprom Neft annually invests about 20 billion rubles in projects in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District. According to the company, before the end of this year, Gazpromneft-Yamal plans to produce 5.9 million tons of oil and drill 61 wells, and in 2018 another 90 and extract 6.8 million tons of oil.

Infrastructure key to Arctic reserves

Novoportovskoye is one of the largest oil and gas condensate fields being developed in Yamal, with recoverable reserves of categories C1 and C2 - more than 250 million tons of oil and condensate, as well as more than 320 billion cubic meters. m of gas (including Paleozoic deposits). According to its properties, the oil of the Novoportovskoye field belongs to the category of light with a low sulfur content (about 0.1%).

Novoportovskoye oil and gas condensate field was the first field discovered on the Yamal Peninsula. It was discovered back in 1964, thanks to the drilled brigade of the Yamal party of the Yamalneftegeologiya trust, the R-50 exploratory well. The field is located in the southeastern part of the peninsula in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Region (250 km north of Nadym, 30 km from the coast of the Kara Sea). Due to the remoteness of the field from the transport infrastructure, development began only in 2012, and year-round operation of this strategic Russian asset began only in 2016, after the project’s operator Gazprom Neft launched the Arctic Gate shipping terminal in the shallow part of the Ob lips. The Umba transshipment complex, located on the roads in the Kola Bay, is involved in the logistics scheme for deliveries from Novoportovskoye and Prirazlomnoye fields in the Arctic. It receives oil delivered by shuttle tankers from the Prirazlomnoye and Novoportovskoye fields.

The maximum capacity of the transshipment complex is 15 million tons per year. According to August 2017, the volume of oil transportation through the Gazprom Neft logistics scheme in the Russian Arctic has already exceeded 10 million tons. Not so long ago, the company announced another, one hundred thousandth batch of Novy Port oil, which was shipped from the Umba floating oil storage in Kola Bay. According to Gazprom Neft's Deputy General Director for Logistics, Refining and Sales, the logistic scheme has once again proved its effectiveness, ensuring, despite the harsh climatic conditions and growing production volumes, year-round transshipment of the volumes of oil demanded by the grades market. According to the largest Russian vertically integrated oil company, the Novy Port oil supplied from the Yamal field is superior in quality not only to the Russian Urals blend, but also to Brent.

Facts

509.3 billion m3 of natural gas was produced in Yamal in 2016. 55.8% of oil production in Yamal fell to Gazprom Neft. 20 billion rubles annually Gazprom Neft invests in projects in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area

Today, Yamal is the main region in the upstream strategy of Gazprom Neft. Not so long ago, two of the largest fields on the company's balance sheet, Novoportovskoye and Vostochno-Messoyakhskoye, were commissioned here, which allowed VINK to master technologies and technical solutions that provide access to Arctic reserves. Now the company is aimed at developing its competence in the development of hard-to-recover reserves. The share of hard to recover exceeds 50% of the total reserves on the balance sheet of Gazprom Neft. Involvement in the development of complex reserves and the implementation of new projects, in addition to increasing oil recovery in mature fields, are the main directions for the growth of Russian vertically integrated oil companies. According to the head of the company, Alexander Dyukov, in order to solve these problems, the company actively cooperates with Russian and international service companies, choosing the most appropriate modern technologies for the company's fields. In particular, in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Gazprom Neft is working with Halliburton to introduce new technologies and technical technologies in Russia.
